Inspiring life: Grace Coddington publishes her memoirs

For her, Vogue editor Anna Wintour is chipping away at the armour and declares « she is genius », all is said. Former model Grace Coddington has just launched her memoirs in a book simply called « Grace Coddington, A memoir ». Don’t you know her ? She is the witty, red-mane Creative Director at Vogue US who literaly stole the show to Wintour  in the documentary  » The September Issue » in 2009

In this book, Coddington, covers a span of 50 years of Fashion and its evolution from private salon défilés in the 60’s to the recent media craze over fashion weeks… she also shares numerous anecdotes about her career and her lovelife, dispensing some colorful behind the scenes stories about fashion shoots here and there…

Coddington made her first steps in the fashion world in the early 60’s as a model, alongside Jean Shrimpton or Twiggy in the Swinging London, and became Vidal Sassoon muse, who created his famous five-point cut on her. Her entourage included the Beatles, Jane Birkin, the Rolling Stones, Pat Cleveland, Angelica Houston, Lagerfeld, David Bailey, Helmut Newton etc…It was in 1988 that she joined Wintour at the US Vogue after having worked for the British edition.

This passionate, dreamer woman has crafted some of the most spectacular photo-shoots for the world’s most glamorous models mostly inspired by her romantic nature and her childhood memories of Inglesey, where she grew up. Her narrative-style is now the trademark of the famous magazine, who else in the fashion industry could have persuaded superstar designers Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Natalia Vodianova and many others to play roles in a shoot based on « Alice in Wonderland?

She once said  « For me, one of the most important aspects of my work is to give people something to dream about, just as I used to dream all those years ago as a child looking at beautiful photographs. »

Isn’t this what fashion and luxury is about?
